ROSSIE – A residence at 112 Barker Road Lot 4 has been declared a total loss from a fire that struck early this morning.
St. Lawrence County fire investigators said they are still attempting to determine the cause of the blaze.
The Gouverneur Fire Department and Rescue Squad responded at 1:06 a.m. The Oxbow Fire Department provided mutual aid and the Edwards Rescue Squad was on standby, investigators said.
The residence is owned by Wes Belmore of Rochester, but the identity of two renters, who were not home at the time, was not immediately known, investigators said.
Firefighters returned to the station at 2:50 a.m.
The American Red Cross was notified, officials said. It was not immediately known whether the structure was insured.
