A televised debate between two North Country Republicans hoping to represent the party in the 21st Congressional District election in November is set for Tuesday, May 27, a month before the GOP primary.

Time Warner Cable News says Matt Doheny, an investment manager from Watertown, and Elise Stefanik, a former Republican Party aide in Washington now living in Willsboro, will debate beginning at 7 p.m. next Tuesday. The hour-long debate will be moderated by TWC political reporter Liz Benjamin, host of the cable channel’s Capital Tonight.

Two other TWC political reporters will be present, but no other reporters will be.

It will be rerun at 10 p.m. that night, at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 31, and Sunday, June 1 at 8 p.m.

The debate can also be viewed at twcnews.com.

Doheny and Stefanik will be vying for the seat, in addition to Aaron Woolf of Elizabethtown, the Democrats’ choice to fill the seat being vacated by Plattsburgh Democrat Bill Owens. Also in the race is Green Party candidate Matt Funiciello of Glens Falls.
