RENSSELAER FALLS -- Rensselaer Falls band Tyrade is leading the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands contest in the Darien Lake region with 1592 votes.

Close behind is rock band Earlyrise with 1120 votes.

Contest winners will have a chance at playing the 2012 Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival. While having the highest number of votes does not guarantee the local musicians will take the stage, it will allow the them to progress to the next round where the their music will be judged by a variety of artists, producers and record executives.

Judges will select four bands from each venue area to play at the respective festivals.

The opportunity is part of an online contest at http://battle.rockstaruproar.com/home.eb.

To help the band just click on "login to vote" and sign up for a fan registration at http://battle.rockstaruproar.com/u/Tyrade. Then sign in with your email and password and vote once a day until Aug. 15.

Tyrade is made up of Matt Farrell from Saranac Lake on drums, Tim Anson from Canton on bass, Thomas Arquitt from Saranac Lake on guitar, and Ronn Simser from Renesselaer Falls. Tyrade's style of music comes from its varied background of musicians. Their style ranges from melodic ballads to metal anthems, and everything in between.

Anyone who hasn't seen the Tyrade will have a chance Aug. 7 at the Oswego Speedway, where the band will share the stage with Five Finger Death Punch, Killswitch Engage, Trivium, Pop Evil, God Forbid and Shadows Fall.
