Remington Museum’s members’ exhibit awards announced

OGDENSBURG – Winners in the Frederic Remington Art Museum’s 2013 Members’ Juried Art Exhibition have been announced.

The 2013 Public’s Choice Award went to Denny Morreale for “Raurri at the Sandbanks, 2011.” Morreale was awarded a framed print of Frederic Remington’s 1890 painting, Antoine's Cabin.

Best in Show went to Judy Andrus Toporcer for “Rear Window.” Second place went to Lutz Scherneck for “Two Fish Blue Pond” and the third place prize went to John Elwood Cook for “Ice House.”

The annual exhibit is open to any artist who is a member of the museum. This year, there were 49 entries by 44 artists.

The museum is grateful for entries from all the artists in the exhibit: Ravinder Agarwal, Georgette Bacon, Steve Bateman, Barbara Benson, Kathy Braceland, Marion Bradish, Diane Charlebois, Richard Charlebois, John Elwood Cook, J.P. Doyle, Yves Dupont, Betsy Elswit, Daniel Elswit, Lorre Florin, Shawn L. Halperin, Pat Harrington, Len Haug, Mary Haven, Jane Lammers, Lorraine Lans, Ann Larsen, Gary Larsen, Cheryl Livingston-Young, Hope Marshall, Suzan L. McDermott, Lynn E. Mecham, Bruce Millen, Denny Morreale, John Morrow, Paul N. Pedersen, Norman Pirollo, Lynne Reichhart, Terry Rempel-Mroz, Thomas Robarge, R. Paul Saphier, Lutz Scherneck, Janet M. Sullins, Eleanor Sweeney, Graham Thomas, Judy Andrus Toporcer, Rashmi Vaish, DuShawn Williams, Pamela Winchester, David Young.

Many of the works were for sale. One-third of the proceeds benefit the museum, and two-thirds go to the artist.

The museum’s next juried exhibit, the 2013 International Juried Art Exhibit, is coming right up. It will open on Saturday, Sept. 21, to artists within 100 miles of Ogdensburg. The juror is Susan Ashbrook.
