COLTON -- For the fifth year in a row the Town of Colton’s Tourism & Beautification Committee is taking orders for Remembrance Trees to display in December and January in the hamlets of Colton and South Colton.
The deadline to order and pay for trees is Friday, Nov. 9.
The cost is still just $35 per tree which includes set up for sponsors to decorate their tree and a power cord running to each tree.
Sponsors can select whether they want their trees displayed in the hamlet of Colton or South Colton.
The order form is available on the Town of Colton website (www.townofcolton.com) under News to download and print; and it can be picked up in the Colton Town Hall on Main Street in the hamlet of Colton.
Ordered trees will be set up after Thanksgiving; and the committee will identify each with a large laminated tag naming those remembered and the sponsors.
LED lights can be added by sponsors in any colors desired.
And non-electrical decorations, garland, tinsel and non-glass ornaments also are allowed.
This year the trees will be lighted on Friday, Dec. 7 — first in South Colton at 6 p.m., then in Colton at 6:30 p.m.
After the lightings the names of those remembered will be read during a reception hosted by the Colton Historical Society in the Town Hall.
The town will keep the lights on throughout Winterfest during the month of January.
