St. Lawrence County Clerk Gavin Regan has announced that he has the endorsements of fellow Democrats Governor Andrew Cuomo and Representative Bill Owens in his effort to keep his job after next week’s election
"County Clerk Gavin Regan has done an outstanding job as St. Lawrence County Clerk," Cuomo said. “I appointed him because I believe his financial experience and strong work ethic make him well qualified to serve the people of St. Lawrence County. Gavin’s leadership in these difficult fiscal times is an example of what we need at all levels of government.”
“In a few short months, Gavin has cut costs, improved efficiency, and earned the respect of his employees, colleagues and customers, said Rep. Owens. “As St. Lawrence County works to recover from financially challenging times, we need someone like Regan who has the expertise and determination to lead in this capacity.”
Regan said the clerk’s department has reduced overtime and personnel costs without cutting services, while increasing revenues by more than $100,000 above 2010 levels.
Regan is opposed by former Deputy Clerk Mary Lou Rupp, a Republican.
