HAMMOND — A family of three, two adults and an infant, was receiving aid from the American Red Cross at the site of a house fire at their residence on Walruth Road early this morning.
According to a press release from the Red Cross, volunteers from its North Country Chapter provided immediate emergency aid to the three in the form of financial assistance for necessities such as shelter, food and clothing, emotional support and comfort kits containing personal care items.
No further details were available at press time. Calls to the fire department and department personnel were not answered Saturday morning.
Red Cross staff and volunteers will remain available to help those affected by the fire as they
navigate the road to recovery, said the Red Cross press release.
