Temperatures will likely be record breaking today and tomorrow with highs expected in the 50s today and near 60 on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Today is expected to be dry with partly sunny skies and a high near 53, NWS says. The record high for Feb. 28 in Massena and Potsdam is 51 degrees and was recorded in 1983 at Massena's Richards Field.

The March 1 record high of 49 degrees forSt. Lawrence County took place in 1954. A new record could be set tomorrow with the forecast calling for temps to reach 59.

There is a 20 percent chance of showers this afternoon with light winds, the service says.

Overnight will see a low near 46 and a 40 percent chance of showers.

Wednesday is expected to be wet and warm with an 80 percent chance of showers and a high pushing 60 degrees.

Rain is expected to continue Wednesday night before changing over to snow showers around 3 a.m. The low Wednesday night will be around 24.
