Record highs were recorded Tuesday in Canton, Ogdensburg, Potsdam, Massena, Gouverneur, and Star Lake as temps reaching into the upper-80s across the county, according to The Weather Underground.

Gouverneur and Star Lake shattered their record as highs of 88 were recorded yesterday at KGTB Wheeler-Sack International Airport in Fort Drum, which is the nearest National Weather Service recording station for the southern portion of the county. The previous record of 79 degrees was recorded in 2011.

Temperatures of 86 degrees were recorded in Canton and Ogdensburg which broke the previous record of 82 degrees in 1933.

Highs topped out at 87 in Potsdam and Massena which topped the previous record of 82 degrees in 1970, Weather Underground said. The reading was recorded at the official National Weather Station at Massena's Richards Field.

Today will be extremely warm again, with highs expected in the upper-80s with a heat index of 90, according to the National Weather Service. Cooler weather will be in store on Thursday as the high is not expected to reach 70.
