MASSENA –The re-installation of docks and buoys along the St. Lawrence River in the vicinity of its St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Power Project will begin during the week of April 23.
The process is expected to take approximately two weeks, but is dependent on the weather and river conditions, according to the New York Power Authority.
Installation will begin at NYPA’s Hawkins Point Visitors Center and finish at Howard Park docks in the Town of Waddington.
Docks and buoys will be installed in the following locations in Town of Massena:
• Hawkins Point docks and buoys
• Massena Intake docks
• South Channel buoys
• Massena Country Club docks.
In the Town and Village of Waddington, installations will be at:
• Whitaker Park docks
• Old Milk Factory buoys
• Howard Park docks.
As usual, all the docks and buoys are scheduled to be removed again in the fall, depending on weather and river conditions. The fall removal is timed so they are taken out before heavy frost or ice form on the surface of the docks, creating unsafe conditions for workers and the boating public.
NYPA will notify the media and the general public in advance of the work.
