MASSENA – Boxers from Raymondville, Massena and Akwesasne will be featured at The Brawl in the Mall, hosted by Standing Rock Boxing Club on Saturday, July 3, at 5 p.m. in the St. Lawrence Centre Mall Arena.

The fight card offers amateur boxers from New York State and Canada, including New York State Champion Chad Campeau, Raymondville, Quebec Light Weight Champion Tony Luis, 12-year-old Rorohronhakies, Akwesasne, and female contender Jean Gibson, Massena.

Campeau, 25, 178 pounds, won the New York State Championship in March 2008 and then again in February 2010.

A four-year veteran of the sport, Campeau trains at least three times a week at Champs Eastside Boxing Club in Cornwall, Ont., or at Standing Rock Boxing Club in Massena.

The main event will feature Campeau as he squares off against Golden Gloves Champion Derrick Evans from Utica.

Quebec Light Weight Champion Tony Luis, 23, 135 pounds, holds an undefeated 9-0 record with over 100 amateur fights under his belt.

His father, Jorge Luis, owns Champs Eastside Boxing in Cornwall and inspired him to begin training at an early age.

His special guest appearance comes on the heels of his recent victory over Adrian Valdez, which was televised on ESPN 2.

Rorohronhakies (a.k.a. Lolo) has only been boxing since May 2009 when his father, Atsiakonkie, opened Standing Rock Boxing Club.

The 113-pound boxer won his second fight at the New York State Fair at age 11 when he knocked out his 15-year-old opponent. Lolo currently attends the Akwesasne Freedom School.

Massena High School student, Jean Gibson, 17, 178 pounds, has wanted to box since she was a little girl.

Even though Gibson has only been training at Standing Rock Boxing Club for a few short months, she is still very excited to get into the ring for her first fight ever.

Tickets are on sale now at Standing Rock Boxing Club (Massena), Seaway Mini-Mart (Massena), St. Lawrence Centre Mall and Arena (Massena), 101.5 The Fox (Massena), 97.3 CKON Radio (Akwesasne), Wild Bills (Akwesasne), and Nina Denny Public Relations (Ogdensburg).

A pecentage of ticket sales will benefit the Akwesasne Freedom School.

The mall’s fireworks spectacular will follow the event.
