Today’s warm temperatures will begin to moderate in the North Country tonight as rain moves in overnight and continues tomorrow.

A cold front will bring rain tonight, changing to a mix of rain and snow Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service.

Unsettled and cooler conditions return for the remainder of the work week as the jet stream takes a dip to the south. Mixed precipitation is expected to continue through Wednesday, transitioning into snow Thursday, the service says.

The NWS forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and the northwestern Adirondacks:

• Tonight: Rain likely, mainly after 3am. Cloudy, with a low around 41. South wind 10 to 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

• Tuesday: Rain, mainly before 3pm. High near 46. South wind 8 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

• Tuesday Night: A chance of rain showers before 1am, then a slight chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27. Southwest wind 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

• Wednesday: A chance of snow showers before noon, then a chance of rain and snow showers between noon and 2pm, then a chance of rain showers after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 39. Southwest wind 8 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
