Some rain and thunderstorms are likely in the next couple of days before the wet weather moves out and clear skies return, according to the National Weather Service.

Some rain is expected today before clearing tonight. Tomorrow there is an 80 percent chance of rain, with thunderstorms late in the afternoon and into the evening.

Sunny days and clear nights are expected Thursday through Sunday, with a chance f some rain returning next Monday.

High temperatures will be mainly in the 60s and 70s, perhaps reaching into the low 80s early next week. Overnight lows are expected to be in the 40s and 50s.

The forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and the Northwestern Adirondacks:

Today: A chance of rain, mainly between noon and 5pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 69. South wind between 3 and 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 52. South wind between 3 and 7 mph.

Wednesday: Occasional thunderstorms, mainly after 4pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. High near 70. Southwest wind between 7 and 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 11pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. Mostly cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 42. West wind between 3 and 11 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
