Rain to stay with us in North Country for a couple of days; weekend looks good

A low pressure system is providing the North Country with scattered rain and, in the normally colder spots, snow showers today, and another low will bring widespread rain to the region Thursday, and again, upslope snow showers to the higher elevations Thursday night through Friday. The heaviest rain is expected to come Thursday night and Friday, according to the National Weather Service. High pressure then returns for the weekend, with clear skies predicted for the weekend and into next week.

High temperatures for the next few days will mainly be in the 40s except tomorrow, when the high is expected to be about 55.

Overnight low temps will be in the 30s until dipping into the 20s Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

Today: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 44. West wind between 10 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Tonight: A slight chance of showers before 10pm. Increasing clouds, with a low around 35. West wind at 7 mph becoming southeast. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Thursday: Rain, mainly after 1pm. High near 54. South wind between 6 and 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Thursday Night: Rain, mainly before 1am. Low around 33. Southeast wind 5 to 8 mph becoming west between 14 and 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Friday: A chance of rain and snow before 11am, then a slight chance of rain between 11am and 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 43. Northwest wind between 15 and 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
