Rain in St. Lawrence County to turn to snow Monday night, back to rain Tuesday morning

Some not-very-spring-like weather is moving into St. Lawrence County, with rain turning to rain and snow tonight before turning back to all rain Tuesday, the National Weather Service is forecasting. But the sun could come out Tuesday afternoon.

The chance of precipitation will be at about 60 percent through early Tuesday, the weather service says. Total snow accumulation will probably not exceed an inch, according to the forecast.

The predicted low tonight will be about 30 degrees as moderate northeasterly winds develop. The high tomorrow is expected to be about 44. Those winds will diminish as skies clear Tuesday afternoon and into Tuesday night, when low temperatures will dip to a wintry 25 degrees

Wednesday and Thursday look to be mostly sunny with temps reaching into the 50s on Thursday.

The NWS forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and northwestern Adirondacks:

• Tonight: A slight chance of rain showers before midnight, then a chance of rain and snow showers between midnight and 2am, then snow showers likely after 2am. Cloudy, with a low around 30. Calm wind becoming northeast 5 to 8 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

• Tuesday: Rain and snow showers likely before 10am, then a chance of rain showers between 10am and 2pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 44. Northeast wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

• Tuesday Night: Clear, with a low around 25. Light north wind.

• Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 46. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west in the afternoon.

• Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 29. Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph.

• Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 53. Light northwest wind.

• Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 33. Calm wind becoming northeast around 5 mph after midnight.

• Friday: Sunny, with a high near 59. North wind around 7 mph.

• Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 36. North wind 3 to 5 mph.

• Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 59. Northwest wind 5 to 9 mph.

• Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 36. North wind 3 to 5 mph.

• Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 61. North wind 3 to 5 mph.

• Sunday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 39. Northeast wind 3 to 5 mph.

• Monday: A 50 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 58. Northeast wind around 6 mph.
