Thursday, January 31, 2013 - 9:34 am

Wind gusts could reach as high as 55 mph as temperatures drop rapidly throughout the North Country. Morning rain showers will give way to snowfall, according to the National Weather Service.

A high wind warning is in effect until 7 p.m. Sustained winds between 25 and 35 mph will peak around noon.

Winds will be strong enough to damage trees and cause power outages.

A flood watch has also been issued across the county as ice jams are likely to result from the snowmelt.
