Rain to meet with family of Ogdensburg murder victim as she continues campaign to unseat St. Lawrence County’s district attorney

OGDENSBURG -- – Republican candidate for district attorney Mary Rain will continue her campaign today with support from the family of murder victim Bernard Trickey Jr.

Rain will be joined by members of Trickey's family outside of his former home today at 10:30 a.m.

In a press release, Rain continued to take shots at her opponent incumbent St. Lawrence County District Attorney Nicole Duve, a Democrat.

“No case personifies my opponent’s failure more than the murder of Bernard Trickey Jr.” Rain said. “Three times my opponent tried and failed to convict the alleged murderer, Wayne Oxley. Three times my opponent failed to deliver justice to the Trickey Family. Well, Nicole, three strikes and you’re out- it’s time for new leadership in St. Lawrence County.”

Rain said her decision to involve the families of murder victims is a sign of solidarity.

“My opponent says I shouldn’t stand with victims during a political campaign. I could not disagree more. I stand with victims every day. I am running for district attorney because my opponent does not stand for victims- she stands for excuses," she said. "The voters need to remember the stories of these victims - everyday people living their lives who, in the blink of an eye, became victims of a crime. All they want after that moment is one thing- Justice. My opponent’s failures directly caused the one thing this family deserved - Justice. My heart goes out to this family and countless others who have experienced the same unacceptable and heart wrenching results.”

Rain said her record precedes her and she will ensure criminals are punished if she is elected to the office.

“This election comes down to a very clear choice. If any of you, your spouse, your child, your parent, or your loved one is a victim of crime tonight who would you want prosecuting your case?”
