A cold front moving out of the Great Lakes is likely to bring increasing cloudiness during the day and showers and possibly a few isolated thunderstorms across northern New York this afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service.
High pressure begins to build back into the area by Saturday night bringing cool temperatures and possibly a frost in higher elevations.
Clear skies will dominate the North Country`s weather through the remainder of the weekend and into Monday.
The NWS forecast for the St. Lawrence valley and northwestern Adirondacks:
Today: A slight chance of showers before 3pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 3pm and 4pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 4pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 82. Southwest wind 8 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely before midnight, then a slight chance of showers between midnight and 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 49. Southwest wind 7 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Saturday: A slight chance of showers. Mostly sunny, with a high near 62. Light southwest wind becoming west 8 to 13 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Saturday Night: Clear, with a low around 36, colder at higher elevations. Light and variable wind.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 66. Light and variable wind becoming west 5 to 10 mph in the morning.
