Light rain and snow are expected across the North Country through tomorrow, before the possibility of larger amounts moves in tomorrow night.

The National Weather Service has posted a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the region.

With highs from the mid-30s into the 40s today, tomorrow, Friday and Saturday, we can expect precipitation mostly in the form of rain, and little snow accumulation.

Today's precip is expected to be accompanied by southwest winds gusting to near 40 mph. Rain and snow are expected tonight, with lows around 30.

More rain and snow are expected tomorrow with highs approaching 40, before the chance of precipitation drops to 20 percent tomorrow night. The probability of precip rises to 80 percent on Friday, but little accumulation is expected.

Friday night, snow is predicted, lows dipping into the mid- to upper-20s.

The weekend outlook calls for a chance of snow Saturday, clearing and colder Saturday night, and sunny Sunday with highs around the freezing mark.

The National Weather Service forecast for the St. Lawrence valley and the northwestern Adirondacks:

Today: A chance of showers, mainly before 3pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. Southwest wind around 17 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Tonight: Rain and snow likely before 3am, then snow. Low around 29. Southwest wind between 5 and 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Thursday: Rain and snow likely before noon, then a slight chance of rain between noon and 4pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 38. West wind between 9 and 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Thursday Night: A slight chance of snow showers between 11pm and 1am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 24. South wind 6 to 11 mph becoming east. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday: Snow, possibly mixed with rain. High near 37. North wind between 8 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Friday Night: Snow likely, mainly before 1am. Cloudy, with a low around 27. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Saturday: A chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 34. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 11.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 31.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 11.

Monday: A chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a high near 37. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Monday Night: A chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 25. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tuesday: A chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 39. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
