An upper level trough of low pressure continues to track toward the North Country and will bring rain showers to the region through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The trough will begin to situate across the North Country on Sunday and bring much cooler temperatures Sunday and Monday before the it finally begins to exit the region, forecasters say.
There is a 50 percent chance of showers today with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 61, NWS says.
Tonight showers are possible with an overnight low around 39, the service says.
Sunday will be much cooler, likely not even reaching 45 degrees, forecasters said. The low overnight will be around 38 with a 70 percent chance of showers.
The forecast through Friday is as follows:

Showers likely. Patchy dense fog before 9am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 44. West wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Sunday Night
Showers likely. Cloudy, with a low around 38. Southwest wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Monday
Showers likely, mainly before 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 55. West wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

A 30 percent chance of showers before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 40. Southwest wind 3 to 5 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
