The CSX crossing at Pine Street remains closed as a paving crew waits for CSX to complete their work before they resurface the road portion of the crossing.
POTSDAM – CSX and a paving crew are nearly done with the work at the railroad crossing at Pine Street.
In the meantime the crossing is closed, and road traffic bound for State Rt. 345, the main route from Potsdam north to Madrid and Waddington, is being diverted to use US Route 11 and County Route 35, the Crary Mills-Norwood Road.
The paving work is being done by Ruston Paving of Syracuse, which was contracted by CSX for the work, according to crew supervisor Mark Piraino.
The state Department of Transportation told Potsdam village officials that CSX would keep the Pine Street crossing closed overnight Thursday to reopen some time today.
In addition to work at that crossing, work has also been done at crossings at side streets off of Market Street.
