POTSDAM -- Canton-Potsdam Hospital’s (CPH) named Alex Ashley, a radiation therapist as employee of the year.
He was named employee of the quarter in April.
Among Ashley’s 2015 contributions, he implemented a radiotherapy education program for CPH mammography technologists, the hospital said.
The program is designed to teach technologists how radiotherapy is administered and how treatment works on cancer cells so staff can more thoroughly answer patient questions. Most recently, Ashley has accepted the position as site Radiation
Therapy Program Clinical Supervisor for SUNY Upstate Medical University, which will begin in May. In this additional role, he will oversee students completing their clinical training at CPH.
“If you look up the word exemplary in Webster’s dictionary it states ‘extremely good and deserving to be admired and copied’. I cannot think of a better word that describes Alex. He is an extremely good radiation therapist who makes patient safety and quality his first priority,” said Mark Serago, Director of Oncology. “Alex’s technical proficiency and sensitivity toward providing physical and psychological comfort are admirable and appreciated by his patients. CPH is very fortunate to have a full team of professionals at the Center for Cancer Care who excel in exemplary patient care, like Alex.”
