POTSDAM – The village has set a public hearing on changing parking rules on Elderkin and Cherry streets for 5:45 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, before the next regular board meeting.
The recent traffic tie-ups along Elderkin Street and Market Street due to enthusiastic response to the opening of the Five Guys restaurant prompted village officials to examine parking rules along Elderkin Street in an attempt to alleviate overcrowding of parking spaces there.
While the traffic and parking problems there have diminished, during the discussions it was determined that the narrowness of Elderkin and Cherry streets merited consideration of limiting parking to one side of those streets.
The Dec. 17 session is to hear public comment on a proposed local law to prohibit parking on the south side of each of those streets.
