MASSENA -- Don Meissner will soon broadcast from outdoor expos around the country via the social media app Periscope.

Meissner is contracted with Massena to promote the town at outdoor shows.

He just recently returned from a show in Columbus, Ohio attended by 12,000 people over three days.

Meissner in the near future will attend expos in Philadelphia, Penn., Springfield, Mass. and Suffern, N.Y., according to Massena Supervisor Joseph Gray.

Joining him at some of the events will be St. Lawrence County professional fisherman Chris Flint.

“Flint is doing more with it, so we’re going to do Periscope at one of these shows, I don’t know which one,” Gray said.

They will announce in the future when and how people can tune in.

Periscope is a free application for tablets and smartphones where a person can take a video of what’s happening in front of them and it is streamed live to anyone who goes to the feed.

Gray said the Town Council on Wednesday voted to let Meissner use the town credit card to cover his costs, rather than spend his own money and have the town pay him back.

Gray said he didn’t think it’s fair that Meissner had to spend out of pocket, and he will have to provide receipts for all money spent.
