CANTON – Former Canton Town Justice James Monroe will announce his intent to run for District Attorney Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the St. Lawrence County Courthouse.
Monroe, a Democrat, will force a primary as David Haggard, also a Democrat, recently announced his intent to run. Haggard severed as chief assistant district attorney under Mary Rain, but resigned that position following controversy in the office.
Gary Pasqua, an assistant district attorney in Franklin County, will run on the Republican ticket.
