POTSDAM -- Clarkson University has received $10,000 from Qualcomm Incorporated to help create apps and algorithms that will be used for education at all levels.
Outcomes of the research activities will be used for education at the K-12 and university levels.
The Wireless Internet of Things (IoT)Lab will engage faculty and graduate student researchers, as well as undergraduate students, in research activities that will lead to the development of new algorithms and methods to address the core challenges and mobiles apps to demonstrate the proposed solutions.
The research at the lab will be directed by Assistant Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering Burak Kantarci, Assistant Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering Mahesh Banavar, Assistant Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering Melike Erol-Kantarci and Paynter-Krigman Professor in Engineering Science Stephanie Schuckers.
In the lab, they will lead research tracks in distributed mobile systems and networks, signal processing, wireless communications, sensor networks and smart environments, and biometrics.
“We are thankful for Qualcomm’s continued support of Clarkson University, specifically for the Wireless IoT Lab," said Kantarci. "Qualcomm’s support facilitates the cross-pollination of Clarkson University and the K-12 population, as well as enhancing research opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.”
