POTSDAM -- The Board of Directors at CITEC Business Solutions has named an executive who has provided leadership at both GE and Electrolux as its new executive director.

Reg Carter took over the position Feb. 10 and has worked for CITEC as a Business Advisor since February 2013.

Carter has worked as a senior level executive, offering extensive and diverse leadership experience, both domestic and international, with companies that include General Electric, AB Electrolux and NiSource. He is recognized for motivating and inspiring business teams to meet and surpass objectives through a participative and collaborative leadership style and consensus building.

“We received some exceptional resumes from extremely well-qualified candidates,” Search Committee Member and Board President John Chatterton commented. “After balancing the future needs of the organization along with the critical opportunities CITEC is in the midst of, we felt strongly that transitioning an existing employee with Reg’s qualifications was the ideal path forward.”

CITEC is a not-for-profit business consulting organization. As a member of the federal and New York State Manufacturing Extension Partnership program, CITEC clients are surveyed by an independent third party upon project completion and have reported more than $335-million in results, so far. On average, working with CITEC provides a return of $120 for every $1 of project cost.

Since joining CITEC, Carter has led the delivery of executive services – working with the leaders of North Country organizations in the areas of strategic planning, business assessments, succession planning and executive coaching. While Reg will continue providing those critical services to clients, his daily activities will shift to spend more of his time on his leadership role for CITEC.

“We have a tremendous team at CITEC, delivering impactful projects to the companies in this region,” Carter said. “With our recent contract approval by Empire State Development extending our funding for the next five years, I am excited about our opportunities to bring the experts, programs and resources to the small- and medium-sized firms in our North Country region.

“CITEC has a proven, well-earned reputation for delivering results that truly make a difference to the businesses we serve,” Carter said. “I’m extremely honored to have been entrusted with heading up this important, local resource for the region.”
