POTSDAM -- A Potsdam woman was charged by St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies following an investigation of someone soliciting for a fundraiser to benefit the Hannawa Falls Fire Department under false pretenses.
Kayla A. Jandreau, 19, was charged with second-degree scheme to defraud and petit larceny, officers said.
Deputies said the incident was first reported on Oct. 29.
Police allege that Jandreau used her position in the fire department to obtain money from two people under false pretenses.
She was issued appearance tickets for Potsdam court on a later date, deputies said.
