POTSDAM – A 19-year-old Potsdam woman is in county jail awaiting a mental health evaluation after allegedly making a viral internet video that showed her torturing a mouse, according to village police.
Elizabeth M. Laraby was charged Friday with a felony count of aggravated cruelty to animals and third-degree attempted escape.
According to police, they became aware of and located the four-minute-long viral internet video of Laraby reportedly using a knife and a lighter to torture and mutilate a mouse.
Laraby was picked up by patrols for an interview, and while in custody, she allegedly removed pieces of facial piercing, which she used attempting to remove her restraints, police report.
She was arraigned before Potsdam Village Justice Garner and remanded to St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility without bail pending the mental health evaluation.
