POTSDAM -- The village is considering replacing its aging Elgin street sweeper.
Village Administrator Greg Thompson told the Board of Trustees Monday night, Dec. 18, that it would cost about $20,000 “to get it in shape for next year,” when it would be deployed in the spring to clear up sand spread during winter, along with other cleanup duties.
A completely new machine would cost about $230,000 and they won’t spend that spend that much if they don’t have to, said Department of Public Works Superintendent Jim Corbett.
He and Thompson will be exploring the options such as trading in the old one for a newer used one and report back to the board.
