POTSDAM -- Village police have charged a Colton man with felony weapons possession in connection with their continuing investigation of a fight downtown Sept. 3 that resulted in several injuries.

John A. Sneed, 40, was found to be in possession of an eight-inch buck knife with a four-inch blade which police say was extended and displayed during the altercation at La Casbah, 6 Elm St. Police say they seized the weapon during the fight.

Sneed was arraigned on a charge of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon in Potsdam Village Court before Justice Garner and released to the supervision of the Probation Department. He will appear in court Sept. 22.

Police have also charged Nathan C. Collins, 30, of Hopkinton, and Lamonte J. Geroge, 31, Lisbon, with disorderly conduct for their alleged participation in the fight.

Numerous injuries were sustained in what was described to police as a large fight at LaCasbah.

Five hours later, police responded to a report of a fight on Washington Street. Police said they located several baseball bats thought to have been discarded by fleeing suspects. The altercation allegedly stemmed from the burglary of a 37-inch flat-screen television from a Washington Street residence, police said.

Police say their investigation is continuing, and that further charges are possible.
