POTSDAM -- The Village of Potsdam holds a hearing tonight on a preliminary $10.1 million budget at 6:30 p.m. in the Civic Center.
Under the proposed 2015-2016 budget, the regular property tax rate will increase 7.72 percent, from 15.05582 percent per thousand dollars of assessed valuation in the current fiscal year to 16.2186 percent.
Water rates are due to rise by 5.11 percent, sewer rates up 15.47 percent, and trash up 0.1 percent.
The trustees are not expected to vote on the budget tonight, but rather at the board’s April 20 meeting.
The budget has to be passed by May 1.
