POTSDAM – The village’s Code Enforcement Office will soon return to the streets and sidewalks to complete its Property Maintenance Survey that began last year.
Local code officials will look to identify problems relating to the New York State Property Maintenance Code, according to a Village of Potsdam press release.
The code requires visual inspection of the conditions of exterior property items including the roof, exterior painted surfaces, porches, window conditions, accessory buildings, chimneys and foundations.
The office asks for patience of property owners as they navigate rules and regulations over the coming months.
Properties surveyed last year will be revisited to see if homeowners have made an effort to fix the requested corrections.
The release went on to say that the village is aware of current financial hardships our area is facing and that anyone receiving a notice of violation can contact them to make a mutually acceptable plan to remedy the situation. Officials say that the properties are not exempt and owners are expected to meet the requests the same as all other properties within the village.
For more information, contact the Village of Potsdam Code Enforcement Office at 265-7676 or stop in the office Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The office is located at 2 Park St.
