POTSDAM – Annexation of property into the village, increasing parking fines, and getting authority to issue bonds for improving the village water treatment infrastructure are on the agenda of tonight’s Potsdam Village Board of Trustees meeting.
Prior to the regular meeting at 7 p.m. in the Civic Center Board Room, the trustees will hold hearings on those matters.
At 6:40 p.m. the board is to hear comment on the plan to bring into the village limits about four acres of land purchased by Clarkson University along US Rt. 11. Aside from moving a maintenance facility and a new greenhouse there, the university has no particular plan for the land other than to allow them to develop it with village water and serer service.
At 6:50 p.m., trustees will hear comment on their plan to increase overdue parking fines to $20 if not paid within seven days, and $40 if not paid in 30 days.
The board could act on those proposals during the meeting that starts at 7 p.m.
The trustees plan to set a hearing at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 16 to listen to comments on the $10,710,000 plan for new and improved water treatment. If the plan is approved, it would be subject to a public referendum.
They are also due to vote tonight on designating the village board as the lead agency in the water project.
