POTSDAM – Potdsam Town Clerk Cindy Goliber takes office July 1 as the new president of the New York State Town Clerks Association.

Goliber was sworn in at NYSTCA’s annual conference this month in Buffalo.

“It’s quite an honor,” Goliber said.

“I’ve been in the ranks since 2002. I started as a region director for Region 9, which includes St. Lawrence, Franklin, Clinton and Essex counties,” Goliber said.

Since then she has been climbing the ladder of leadership positions, as secretary, third vice president, then second, then first, and now president of the 880-member organization.

Goliber said she was pleased that her husband Joe and their daughters, Cara Adams and Kristin Richardson, were there for the swearing in.

Goliber says the organization promotes education among clerks, and raises money for clerks and staff to attend conferences and the International Institute of Municipal Clerks at Cornell University.

Goliber has been Potsdam Town Clerk for 16 years, and is running again in November under the Republican banner.
