The Potsdam Town and Country Club ladies champion this year is Terri Gilchrist, at right, accepting the championship trophy from past champ Karen O’Brien.

POTSDAM – The Potsdam Town and Country Club championships have been decided.

In the men’s championship flight, defending champion Nick Miller was unstoppable in winning his fifth club championship title with a stellar 71-74 (145) performance over runner-up Jimmy Williams (160) and third place finisher Cory Towne (161).

In the senior flight, Billy Ford (156) took down a tough field of his peers, grinding out a 77 on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 12, with a clutch birdie on 18, after starting the day one stroke back of eventual runner-up Geoff Brown (158) and tied with third place finisher Mike Rosenquist (160) and fourth place finisher Chuck Bullard (161). This was Billy’s sixth senior club championship and a great cap to a year that included an ace on PTCC’s sixth hole and a successful defense of his NNYGA Super Senior title at Massena Country Club in a thrilling playoff a couple of weeks earlier.

In the super senior flight, former club champion Pete Shelly ran away with the title shooting a solid 77 on a tough Sunday set-up over former super senior champ Frank Keleher.

The men’s net division had a nice turnout with former net champion Richie Scott snatching back his crown with a net 66 and 70 (136) over runners-up Rich Lemanquais (145) and Kyle Matott (145). Richie played some smart golf teeing off with his 5-iron on most of the par fours, much to the chagrin of his competitors.

Earlier in the season, the ladies club championship was contested over a difficult Red and Gold Tee layout. Terri Gilchrist became the new ladies club champion, dethroning longtime champion Karen O’Brien in runaway fashion, shooting 85-83 over the 36-hole event.
