POTSDAM – Malfunctioning equipment at Potsdam’s sewage treatment plant has caused a leak at the facility this morning.
According to village workers, the flame on a methane boiler failed, which caused overpressure in the digester.
Some material flowed out of the equipment. Just how much they don’t know, but they say it is all cleaned up, and that they have seen no evidence that any untreated material reached the Raquette River.
The boiler is reportedly working again, but workers are waiting for a replacement part.
