POTSDAM -- Potsdam Central School will host a parent meeting tonight from 6:30 to 7 p.m. in the high school library to discuss suicide.
Mary Jones from St. Lawrence Valley Hospice will share information and answer questions.
There will be a 30-minute presentation titled “Helping your Teen Navigate through a Friend's Suicide,” for parents on how to support teens when a friend dies of suicide. According to the Centers for Disease Control, suicide is the second leading cause of death for 15-24 year olds.
The program will focus on the complexities of suicide, the warning signs of suicide, strategies for learning to manage this loss and community resources.
