POTSDAM -- Village residents can expect curbside pickup of the blow-down yard waste generated by this week’s high winds.
On Wednesday, April 4, gusty winds that blew across the North Country caused numerous power outages across the region which are still being dealt with today.
Gusts near 60 mph were recorded at Massena’s Richards Field airport Wednesday afternoon.
Those winds also brought down tree limbs and scattered unsecured items outdoors.
Village Department of Public Works Superintendent Jim Corbett said homeowners may put leaves, brush and garden waste, including tree limbs, out near the curb, but not in the street, to be picked up by village crews.
Corbett said the official spring cleanup round of yard waste pickup will begin soon, but workers will take away the results of those high winds before then.
