POTSDAM -- As state Department of Transportation road work on downtown streets is about to begin, the road crossing work by railroad company CSX is wrapping up.

CSX has finished its maintenance of the crossing at Pine Street. Work on the crossing at Washington Street was to continue with a temporary crossing open as of Friday night. Walnut and Larnard street crossings were expected to be done by Tuesday.

The state Department of Transportation is reminding people that drivers should anticipate traffic delays as they resurface downtown roadways beginning Tuesday, June 10.

The roads involved are Park, Main, and Elm Streets, and Market Street from Main and Maple north to Elderkin Street.

The first phase is milling existing road surfaces. That is to be done during daylight hours and is expected to be done by about June 20.

Paving of the milled surface is expected to begin before the end of June. That work will be done at night. DOT expects the paving will take roughly three nights.
