POTSDAM – Potsdam police say they received a report of an elderly person that has been scammed out of thousands of dollars after being told that if she paid so much money, she would receive millions.
Police are warning residents that these calls are not legitimate.
If you or a family member receives such a call, check with other family members or contact this department to determine the validity of the claim.
Do not wire transfer money via Western Union Services, Money Pak Cards or other money transfer services without first verifying the validity of the claim. These are commonly done at drugstores, Wal-Mart and other retail outlets.
