Potsdam police ticket 11 motorists for traffic violations

POTSDAM -- Potsdam police were a bit busier than usual on Tuesday, ticketing 11 motorists for driving infractions. Those charged included:

• Nicholas A. Burkum, 31, Hannawa Falls, was cited for non-transparent side windows on Clarkson Avenue at 10:32 a.m.

• Edward J. Allen, 66, Miami, Fla., was charged with speed in zone on Lawrence Avenue at 11:23 a.m. after being observed driving 41 miles per hour in a 30 mph zone.

• Charles E. Peterson, 26, Potsdam, was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation on Elm Street at 11:38 a.m. following a two car property-damage accident.

Charged during the same incident was Brian J. Sweet Jr. 27, Norwood. He was cited for moving from a lane unsafely.

• Traci L. Jones, 36, West Stockholm, was cited for non-transparent side windows on Park Street at 12:05 p.m.

• Patricia Anafi, 47, Potsdam, was charged with using a portable electronic device while operating a motor vehicle at 12:25 p.m. on Pierrepont Avenue.

• Josefine Schober, 80, Potsdam, was cited for unsafe backing at 1:06 p.m. at the Potsdam town offices parking lot following a two car property-damage accident.

• Thomas J. Hall, 66, Potsdam, was cited for driving without a seat belt on Pierrepont Avenue at 1:36 p.m.

• Lucas J. Carter, 22, Glenville, was cited for non-transparent side windows on Pierrepont Avenue at 6:51 p.m.

• Joshua L. Laveck, 28, Stratford, was cited for failure to stop at a red light, driving the wrong way on a one-way street and inadequate muffler at 8:27 p.m. on Main Street.

• Lauren A. Zwonik, 22, Colchester, Vt., was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign at the intersection on Main and Elm streets at 10:02 p.m.

All 11 subjects were cited and released.
