POTSDAM -- Potsdam police say they charged two men following a complaint of a dangerous dog at large on May 1 on Walnut Street.

Mark S. Gerrish, 27, and Coleman J. Newton, 22, were each issued an appearance ticket for a dog at large at 6:15 p.m., officers said.

Police say when they responded to the residence two dogs ran towards an officer in an aggressive manner causing the officer to pepper spray the dogs.

Gerrish was additionally cited for having a dangerous dog, officers said.

Both subjects are to answer the charges in Potsdam Village Court on May 16 at 9:30 a.m., police said.
