Potsdam police charge nine with traffic infractions

POTSDAM – Potsdam police said they charged nine motorists Tuesday for various driving infractions including speeding, driving while using an electronic device and passing a red light.

Those charged included:

• Matthew M. Hoffman, 21, Patterson, was charged with speeding on Maple Street at 11:10 a.m. after being observed driving 55 mph in a 30 mph zone.

• Brett A. Vansant, 49, Gouverneur, was charged with driving while using a portable electronic device on Elm Street at 3:29 p.m.

• Joanne Sevick, 58, Winthrop, was charged with driving an uninspected motor vehicle on Elm Street at 4:38 p.m.

• John F. Halpin, 48, Rensselaer Falls, was charged with driving while using a mobile phone on Main Street at 5:15 p.m.

• Jereme C. Oosterman, 31, Potsdam, was charged with no seat belt (passenger) at 5:30 p.m. on Market Street.

• Alyssa H. Pannizzo, 21, Rego Park, was charged with driving while using a portable electronic device at 5:41 p.m. on Elm Street.

• Troy E. Persaud, 25, Seaford, was charged with operating a motor vehicle with an expired registration at 8:32 p.m. on Elm Street.

• Richelle M. Paul, 23, Potsdam, was charged with passing a red light on 8:53 p.m. at the intersection of Market and Sandstone drive.

• Kyle R. Whalen, 26, Waddington, was charged with driving without plate lamps on Pine Street at 8:53 p.m.

All subjects were issued tickets returnable in Potsdam court at later dates.
