Potsdam Neighborhood Center partners with Helping Hands for Food Sense program

POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Neighborhood Center has partnered with Helping Hands, Route 56, Hannawa Falls, for their October Food Sense program.

The program allows customers to buy a food package at the rate of $15.50 but with a value of $25-$30. The October package consists of one pound each of boneless skinless chicken, ground beef, polish sausage, fish sticks, and white rice.

The package also includes 20 ounces of roasted potatoes, 7.25 ounces of macaroni and cheese, 11 ounces of frozen vegetable blend, 15 ounces of canned corn and applesauce, and two fresh produce items. Call the Neighborhood Center at 265- 3920 or Helping Hands at 286-0633 for the add-on or bonus items and to place your order before Oct. 10. Pickups are Oct. 24 between 10:30 and noon or 1 to 3 p.m.

The program is offered to anyone who wishes to stretch their food budget.

SNAP recipients can use benefits to purchase the package.
