Potsdam native Troy O'Brien is the new midday show host on Q Country 102.9 every weekday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Troy O'Brien graduated from Potsdam High School in 2013. Active in the community, he found himself on stage more often than not, performing in talent shows and raising money for charitable organizations. As part of his senior project in October 2012, he organized, hosted, and performed a benefit show in memory of Garrett Phillips. He went on to raise money for scholarships in memory of former Norwood Norfolk principle Joanne Bigwarfe and The Dana Family of North Lawrence.
O’Brien graduated from SUNY Oneonta with a music industry degree.
“While serving an internship with 96.7 YES-FM, Q Country 102.9, and PAC 98.7 during the summer of his junior year, Troy proved himself a capable and passionate media professional,” said a news release from Stephens Media Group.
O’Brien has been employed by Stephens Media as their news director for the same stations he served during his internship.
