POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Public Museum is hosting a new exhibit of early Christmas and New Year's postcards which will be on display through Feb. 29.
Featured will be many outstanding and beautiful postcards, mostly from the 1905 to 1915 period, which was known as the "Postcard Craze" era.
During this time, the sending of postcards became extremely popular.
Featured will be many of the prominent postcard artists, companies and types. These include Frances Brundage, Ellen Clapsaddle, Paul Finkenrath, Raphael Tuck & Sons, "Hold to Lights", and many more.
The postcard shown was created by Carl E. Fischer, who was severely injured as a result of bombing during World War II.
The design for the attached postcard was painted by Fischer using a brush that he had to hold in his mouth.
The caption for this postcard reads "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year" in German.
