POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Public Museum received 401 visitors in the three months from August through October this year, according to the museum’s quarterly report.
There were an estimated 1,500 visitors to the museum’s online presences, their web site and Facebook page.
Museum Director Mimi Van Deusen presented the report to the village’s Board of Trustees at their meeting Monday, Nov. 20.
Highlights during the quarter included:
• August: During Potsdam High School’s Mega Reunion 90 alumni visited the museum; the museum helped with 15 genealogy and other research requests.
• September: A matching grant of $10,000 was received by the Friends of the Potsdam Museum, approved by the Northern New York Community Foundation (NNYCF) to build the museum’s endowment. The endowment was begun by the Friends in 2015 with a gift of $5,000.
• October: The NNYCF Grasseroots Fund procured a grant of $1,769 the museum applied for to install ultraviolet shades to prevent damage to the museum’s collection. The museum donated to the new North Country Children’s Museum a number of items from teacher kits that are no longer used.
