PIERREPONT -- A Potsdam man is facing numerous counts after allegedly crashing his car while impaired and lying to police about his involvement in the collision.
Aaron R. Johnson, 27, is charged with false personation and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, both misdemeanors, and leaving the scene of a property damage accident, driving while ability impaired: alcohol, drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle on the roadway, unsafe movement from lane and failure to notify DMV of address change, troopers said.
On Monday at 6:42 p.m., troopers say they responded to state Highway 68, Pierrepont, for a report of a crash, with the male driver observed leaving the scene on foot.
The driver while operating a 2007 Chevy Silverado struck a guiderail, troopers said.
Troopers say they then caught up with the male who allegedly denied being involved in the crash.
Police identified the man as Johnson and charged him. His blood alcohol content was allegedly .06 percent, troopers said.
He was released with tickets for Pierrepont Town Court on April 5 at 7 p.m., troopers said.
