Potsdam man facing DWI charge accused of smashing head off police equipment, peeing on police department floor

POTSDAM — A Potsdam man arrested Sunday morning for driving while intoxicated was also charged after smashing his head off processing equipment and peeing on the police department floor, according to Potsdam police.

Chad F. Zeller, 44, was charged at 2:10 a.m. with first-offense DWI, aggravated unlicensed operation, felony, third-degree criminal tampering and obstruction of governmental administration.

He was also cited for passing through a steady red light and unlawful possession of marijuana, officers said.

Zeller was found in possession of a small amount of marijuana in his pocket while being searched, police said.

The alleged incident took place on Market Street.

Zeller was cited and released.
